Expanding the Mind

“Where there is no vision, the people perish” –Proverbs 29:18a

It is no secret that I love games. I especially love games that challenge my eyes, dexterity and my mind. I have been playing an online game “Wordament”. There are letters in four by four squares and you have to make words out of the letters. My challenge is that I cannot see words that I use often or I miss putting expanded endings on the words such as, ed, ies, er or ing. These endings can add 20-30 points on a word. You have only two minutes to find words and often times the words are 12 letters long. I am in awe of the number of people who find the long words and there are just as many people like me who seem to be stuck in our limited vision.

Vision is the ability to see, it is a mental picture or image in the imagination. A vision can also be something seen in a dream or trance and can be interpreted as having a spiritual revelation or prophetic significance. A people, a spiritual being, without vision can perish. To have a vision you must be in oneness with God. Quiet, focused prayer or being in communion with God can bring forth visions for your future or clarity about the present. Visions are not always about you but often times can be about others; your family, your community or the world.

Now, I do not pray about my limited vision in Wordament but I do pray to God for vision, clarity and wisdom. When you align yourself with God your spirit mind expands to take in wisdom. The world needs a visionary people. In archery a person stands with a bow and arrow aiming for a target, the bullseye, releasing the arrow which hurls toward the target hitting it in the center ring or as close as possible. A people with vision also have to aim for a target. The arrow is life and the target is God. Our lives must follow the path of Jesus Christ in order to reach the God-target. We must be resolute in our journey to hit the mark. We must follow that straight and narrow path. Matthew 7:14 tells us, “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Jesus said that he is the way, the truth and the life so if we are walking the path of the Christ then we can reach the Father. Living in the Christ path in mind, body and spirit, shifts our lives into a supernatural location where we can receive the revelations that we need to assist ourselves and others in reaching what God has for us. To stay on this path requires studying the word of God.

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” – Colossians 3:2

“Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.” –Psalms 1:1-6

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” –Matthew 6:33

“Let love without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.” –Romans 12:9

The word of God, the Bible (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) is our guide. To forsake worldly thought and take up the teachings of Christ will expand the mind. It is the teachings of God that will give you a supernatural vision that the world cannot understand. It is not to be feared rather to be embraced for such a time as this.

The one thing I have learned about playing Wordament is to never give up. I will press on until I hit my mark. We must do the same in our daily lives.
