TIME OUT Knowledge Equals Power

“I turned my heart to know and to search out and to seek wisdom and the scheme of things”

— Ecclesiastes 7:25a

How often do you read the newspaper, a book or watch the news? There is so much going on in the world. There are events happening in all four corners of the globe. In schools students are given the assignment to read the newspaper to learn about current events. It is necessary to keep up with what happens in the world especially if you work in corporate America or the government. There is nothing more valuable than an employee who expands their knowledge beyond the office.

The bible advises us to seek wisdom which means intelligence or understanding. Knowledge gives us a broader insight to people, how they think, how they live, perceptions and attitudes. If we lack knowledge we are limited to our own thoughts or the thoughts of those who raised us. This is why having an education is vital to our growth and enables us to appreciate one another better. It is important to know how other cultures live, how different people really are the same. Knowledge opens our minds and hearts to know that racism, sexism or ageism is unproductive to our society. Knowledge awakens us to the reality that we all desire the basic necessities of life.

Matthew 7:24-24 advises us,“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock…”Knowledge of holy teachings is necessary to expand our spirituality.

Take time throughout your day to expand your mind and your spirit. Knowledge equals power. Wisdom sets a foundation of spiritual prosperity.

TIME OUT: Lord, my Lord, I am open to wisdom. I am open to know what I need to know to make all things new.
