Time Out The Foundation is Love
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40)
Do you remember your first love? What did it feel like? Can you recall what it felt like when the one you loved walked away? Heartache or rejection leaves you weary and worn. Imagine how much love has been lacking in our country lately. The love that is needed comes out of forgiveness. Love is lacking in judgment and ego. God is in everything and in everyone so love is everywhere and in all of us. Operating out of love is the foundation for healing, for renewal; being love reveals the fruit of heaven on earth.
We appeared out of a foundation of love. We were given the intelligence to create new technology, to strive for material wealth and creature comforts. Now we find ourselves striving for more and more wealth and creature comforts forgetting the One who set the foundation. Any foundation has to be maintained and periodically inspected for cracks or leaks. In “Time Out” we have to think about whether we caused the cracks and leaks. Do not dwell on it long. Do not wallow in guilt or shame rather see it as a lesson that brings about growth. Pointing fingers at others also cracks our foundation. I say “our” because we are all one in heaven and earth; we are a family. We are all on our journey and our individual journey overlaps with our family members’ journey. We learn from each other. In Time Out we should look for God in all that we encounter from day to day. You may ask, “Where is God in the murder of my child?” “Where is God in a diagnosis of Lupus, Cancer or AIDS?” “Where is God in divorce?” These experiences increase our faith. It is easy to say, “I believe in God” and in Time Out in the midst of a struggle we have the opportunity to trust in the Lord for peace, healing of body or mind. Now is the time to show your faith. It may not be easy but it is worth the journey.
We are in the midst of a spiritual Awakening. In this period we are being called to find our way toward doing those greater things that the Christ said that we could do. It all begins in securing our foundation; the foundation of love. It means being consumed in loving the Lord our God with our whole heart, soul and mind so that we are able to love one another and ourselves. The healing of our hearts and bodies takes place in our surrender to the presence of God.
Easier said than done you may say but we have to start somewhere and the time is now. Believe in the reality of God and the love of God that is inside of all of us. When you secure your love foundation you will be able to stand in the midst of troubling times.
Time Out: I am one with God, I am not my issues, I am one with God.
